Tech Buzz China does not sell or arrange the public tours listed here. They are operated by factories, visitor centers, or local industrial-tourism programs and must be booked through their official channels.

“Open to the public” does not necessarily mean walk-in access. Many factories require an app, WeChat account, limited ticket release, advance approval, Chinese telephone number, Chinese identity-card assistance, or group documentation.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can tourists visit factories in China?

Yes. Some programs sell tickets to individuals, some release limited places in an app, and others accept only organized groups with advance documentation.

### Can foreign visitors book?

Sometimes. BMW Brilliance publishes English information. Xiaomi's Beijing instructions say a foreign visitor may need help from a Chinese ID holder and must bring the original passport. Confirm passport acceptance before paying for travel.

### Where should a first-time visitor start?

Choose a China base first. Guangzhou has the strongest cluster in this directory. Beijing and Shanghai each have a local automotive option. Shenyang, Qingdao, Hohhot, Wuhan, and Liuzhou are better treated as separate destinations.

### Does Tech Buzz China arrange these public tours?

Generally, no. Factories and visitor centers operate the listings below. Tech Buzz China designs private professional programs for existing organizations and groups.

### Are BYD, CATL, DJI, Huawei, NIO, or Tesla open to ordinary tourists?

They may receive invited or professional groups, but Tech Buzz China has not verified a standing official booking route for ordinary visitors. We do not label a company “public” simply because someone has toured it.

### Will I see a live production line?

Not necessarily. “Factory tour” can mean an operating workshop, viewing corridor, exhibition center, industrial museum, or mixed route. Reconfirm the route and production schedule directly.

## Choose a base city

### Beijing and North China

- Xiaomi is inside Beijing.
- The BAIC Xiangjie route is also in Beijing but currently paused.
- BMW Brilliance in Shenyang and Yili in Hohhot should be planned as separate destinations.

### Shanghai and East China

- Shanghai Volkswagen is local to Shanghai.
- Tsingtao in Qingdao and TCL in Wuhan are separate destinations rather than casual Shanghai add-ons.

### Greater Bay Area and South China

- Guangzhou has XPeng, GAC, and Dongfeng Nissan.
- XPeng's Zhaoqing center and SAIC-GM-Wuling in Liuzhou can extend a southern China itinerary.

### Other and multi-city options

## Booking guidance

1. Use the factory's own website, app, WeChat account, or published visitor-center contact.
2. Confirm whether the reservation system accepts passports, international telephone numbers, and foreign names.
3. Ask whether the visit includes live production, a viewing corridor, or only an exhibition center.
4. Bring the original identity document used for booking.
5. Assume photography is prohibited unless the factory explicitly says otherwise.
6. Reconfirm shortly before travel. Production work, maintenance, confidential projects, launches, and official events can change access.
